About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a color photography juried group photo show. The exhibition explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature, and night photography.
Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery. He holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida and juror for The Drawers Program at Blue Sky Gallery. Johnson has worked as an independent photography curator in Portland and has been a college photography instructor for 15 years. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
The exhibition runs December 1-20, 2019, with an opening reception on Friday, December 3, 6-8:00 pm. The juror will select 24 photographs for exhibition at the gallery and an additional 30 photographs for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints will be kept in the gallery's flat file after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may request that their print not be for sale and be used for exhibition and promotion only.
Entry fee is $35.00. Applicants may submit 1-5 images. International artists are eligible. Application deadline is November 8, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
