Vision: Color Photography

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition focused on color photography. The show explores how contemporary photographers use color in landscape, portraiture, architecture, fashion, street, abstract, documentary, still life, narrative, conceptual, nature, and night photography.

The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. The exhibition will feature 24 photographs selected for display at the gallery (June 1-25, 2024), with an additional 30 photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all selected work. Prints are produced on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Selected photographers must provide high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Exhibition prints are 12" x 18", 12" x 12", or 12" x 16" (other aspect ratios available). After the exhibition, prints are retained in flat files for promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery retains a 50% commission on sales; the remaining 50% goes to the photographer. Artists may request that their print not be for sale. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sales or printing occur without prior consent.

Entry fee: $40. Submissions limited to 5 images per application, with up to 5 applications allowed. Open to international photographers. Deadline: May 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
