About This Call
This exhibition is open to current Virginia Watercolor Society members who are residents of Virginia. Current paid membership ($35 dues) is required for entry and must be paid electronically at https://virginiawatercolorsociety.org/renew-apply-for-membership/ or mailed to Virginia Watercolor Society, Attn: Karen Schwartz, Membership Chair, PO Box 6742 Williamsburg, VA 23188.
Eligible work includes paintings in watercolor and other water media including water soluble ink on paper or Yupo. Canvas, digital, computer generated, and giclee art are not accepted. If other mediums are used, water-based media must dominate the piece. Collage elements are accepted only if adhered paper pieces are painted in water media by the artist; computer generated, digital, or printed clippings are not allowed. All entries must have been completed on or after January 1, 2017 and not painted under supervision. Works may not infringe upon another's copyright, and if photo references are used, they must be the artist's own photographs. Work accepted for previous VWS juried exhibitions is ineligible.
Artists must submit 1-3 digital images. Paul Jackson, AWS, NWS, and Missouri Watercolor Society Honor Member will select no more than one painting per artist from digital images. Selected paintings must then be submitted for the exhibition, with final selections made from actual submitted paintings. All accepted paintings must hang for the duration of the exhibit and be ready for hanging with appropriate hardware and wire, framed with a security plate attached, under plexiglas or acrylic glazing (no glass), using only white or off-white matting. Minimum frame size in any direction is 16 inches; maximum is 44 inches. This includes diptychs and triptychs, which must be in a single frame. Include on the back of the painting: artist name, phone number, title, medium, and price/NFS. Awards will be given at the juror's discretion, with a top award of $1,500. All artists will be notified of the juror's decision by email by April 12, 2022. Entry fee is $40.
