Viohl Park Public Art Mural

The Village of West Haverstraw, New York invites submissions from US/NY-based artists or artist-led teams for the Viohl Park Public Art Project. This initiative is part of the Village’s developing Selfie Mural and Art Trail and seeks a site-specific horizontal mural that creatively engages with the tranquil setting of Viohl Park along the Minisceongo Creek. The mural should reflect the area’s rich history as a company factory town connected to Garner & Co. during the industrial revolution, while also celebrating the multigenerational families that have shaped the West Haverstraw community. Known as the Viohl Park Mural / Instagram Wall, the artwork is intended to create an interactive and welcoming experience for visitors. Community members and guests will be encouraged to capture photos with the mural and share their moments using the hashtag #WalkWeHa. Viohl Park features a gazebo, bench seating, a digital community board, and landscaped green space. Positioned as a pocket park overlooking the Minisceongo Creek, the site offers a unique and highly visible canvas for a mural that enhances the park experience and contributes to the Village’s growing public art trail.
