Villa Kujoyama Residency

Villa Kujoyama is a multidisciplinary research residency located in Kyoto, Japan that hosts artists, craftspeople, and researchers for stays of four to six months. During their residency, participants benefit from time and space entirely dedicated to their practice and research, without any production requirements. They receive artistic guidance from a dedicated on-site team to support their research and identify relevant contacts for their projects.

Participants are encouraged to build relationships with artistic, cultural, academic, and economic circles throughout Japan. The residency is open to international applicants working in craft/traditional arts, photography, drawing, film/video/new media, mixed-media/multi-discipline, painting, and sculpture. The application submission platform opens February 3, 2026 and closes once 250 applications have been received.
