About This Call
Taos Abstract Artist Collective invites Taos County-based artists to submit work for "Viewpoint: Abstract Minimalism in Taos, New Mexico," a curated exhibition exploring how Taos artists define minimalism in contemporary society. The exhibition will be held at Encore Gallery at Taos Center for the Arts from March 30 - May 14, 2023.
The exhibition seeks to assemble artists who have set their own parameters in minimalist abstraction in response to a maximalist society. Media accepted includes visual arts (painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, photography, found object, conceptual art, installation, ceramics, pottery, fiber, wearable art, etc.), writing (minimal and abstract in content or visual presentation), video, projection, performance arts, and music/sound composition. All submitted work must be both abstract and minimal. Artists may apply to multiple categories with up to 3 total file submissions.
Entry deadline is January 31, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $35. Applicants must reside in Taos County full-time. Submit 1-3 portfolio samples and an artist statement of 3000 characters or less. Visual arts samples should be JPEG/JPG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, with sRGB color profile. Video files should be MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, or M2TS format, under 100 MB, minimum 640 x 480 resolution. Curator Hilary Nelson will review submissions December 12 - February 15, with artist notification on February 16, 2023. Installation is scheduled for March 27-29, 2023.
