Vicinity 2025

Vicinity 2025 is a juried photography exhibition at Perspective Gallery in Evanston, IL. This year's theme is HOME—exploring images about the idea of home beyond a physical place, including memories and emotions linked to a place, person, atmosphere, or experience.

Eligibility and Submission: Open to regional artists in the Chicago metro area. Photographers may submit up to five (5) non-AI generated photographic images in JPEG format. Work must not have previously been shown at Perspective Gallery. Image specifications: JPEG or JPG format only, 1,200 pixels on the longest side, under 5MB, sRGB color profile. Files should be labeled with image number, underscore, and title (e.g., 01_ImageTitle). An optional artist statement of up to 1,000 characters may be included. Entry fee is $35 (non-refundable). Finished work is limited to no more than 45 inches in any direction and must be wired and ready to hang.

Timeline and Awards: Submissions open March 16, 2025 and close May 16, 2025. Acceptance notification is May 30, 2025. The exhibition runs July 3–27, 2025, with an opening reception on Saturday, July 12, 2025, and a virtual artist talk on July 24, 2025. Accepted work must be delivered June 27–29 during gallery hours and picked up July 27 (4–6 pm) or July 28 (10 a.m.–noon). Juror Erin Hoyt, Executive Director of Filter Photo in Chicago, will select award winners: Juror's Award ($150), 1st Runner Up ($100), and 2nd Runner Up ($50). Artists receive 60% and Perspective Gallery receives 40% of any sales during the exhibition.
