Variations of Yellow

The MVA Gallery (Modern Visual Arts) invites artists, photographers, and sculptors of all levels to submit original artwork to this exhibition. This is a national call for entries exploring the theme of yellow in its many variations—from lemon and pastel yellow to gold, canary yellow, amber, and orange yellow. Yellow is traditionally associated with warmth, joyfulness, spontaneity, and optimism, though it can also represent negative concepts such as cowardice and deceit. Artists are encouraged to explore how they utilize yellow in their work: Does it permeate the entire image or appear in small sections? Is it used in objects, nature, people, or abstract designs? Is yellow purely decorative or a defining structural device? Images can be realistic or imaginary, representational or abstract, lucid or mysterious, structured or fragmented, bold or lyrical, familiar or exotic.

The MVA Gallery accepts painting, watercolor, printmaking, mixed media, digital, pastel, encaustic, sculpture, fiber, drawing, and photography. Submissions are exclusively through CAFE (CallForEntry). Entry fee is $35.00 for 3 images, with additional images available for $5.00 each up to a maximum of 9 images. All images must be JPEG format, under 5 MB, with a minimum of 1200 pixels on the longest side. Artists must provide title, medium, size, price, and year of completion for each submission.

Artwork specifications: Paintings and mixed media must be equipped with stretched wire attached to the back (sawtooth hangers not acceptable). Artwork should not exceed 48 inches (framed) on the longest side and must not weigh more than 45 lbs. Sculpture should not exceed 28 inches on any dimension. Photographs should be framed in black or white frames with white or off-white mats. Plexiglass is preferred over standard glass. Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance costs both to and from the gallery. Accepted artwork must arrive by January 14, 2026. Exhibition dates: January 17 - February 15, 2026. Notification to artists will be sent by email on or about November 10, 2025. Awards include an "Art of Distinction" Award, an Annual Grand Prize offering a New York City exhibition opportunity, and an optional Director's Choice Award of $200.
