About This Call
Longmont Art in Public Places (AIPP) is seeking proposals for two-dimensional art to be printed on vinyl and wrapped onto a cargo van. The van is commonly seen throughout Longmont and the greater northern Colorado area. The program aims to garner attention to and enthusiasm for public art, the Longmont Museum and the creative spirit of the community; create a public canvas to feature the work of talented local two-dimensional artists; and enliven outreach events with the vibrantly enhanced vehicle.
Local artists and designers currently living in Boulder or Weld County are invited to submit three to six original 2-D images of work in any medium that demonstrate the style and aesthetic of artwork they would propose if selected as a semifinalist. Submissions must include a statement of approach outlining the visual elements to be included in the proposal. Applications are reviewed by work samples and statement alone—artists should NOT include their name or identity, as applications including artist identity will be disqualified. Submit through Call for Entry at CallforEntry.org or contact [email protected] or 303-651-8924 with questions.
A selection panel will review all applications and select three semifinalists, each paid a $250 stipend to create a proposal for the final commission. The panel will then select one finalist and one backup based on artistic merit, graphic strength, ability to translate the design to large format on a truck wrap, appropriateness for public placement, and residency in Boulder or Weld County. The finalist will complete a contract with the City of Longmont and receive an additional $2,250 for the commission. The City of Longmont will be responsible for fabrication and installation. The selected design will be featured on the cargo van for at least two years beginning in spring 2026.
