About This Call

The County of Santa Clara invites local art galleries and non-profit arts organizations located within Santa Clara County to submit original 2-dimensional artworks for permanent display at Valley Health Clinic in Morgan Hill, California. Approximately 50 original artworks will be selected for installation in the clinic's public-facing areas, including waiting rooms, corridors, and exam rooms.

Proposers may submit up to 20 new or previously created original artworks for consideration. Eligible artists include painters, muralists, graphic artists, photographers, and poets who can present their work visually and two-dimensionally. Themes may include healthcare and wellness, healing environments, supporting physical and mental recovery, reducing stress, and relating to local history and diversity. Artwork must be professionally mounted for display, and the County will provide input on framing to ensure cohesiveness. Both portrait and landscape orientations are accepted. All copyrights remain with the artists, though artists must waive rights under the Visual Artists Rights Act of 1990 and California Art Preservation Act.

Selected proposers will be awarded $2,500 per artwork, with a suggested 50-50 split with the artist. Maximum compensation per proposer is $50,000. Artwork must be delivered framed and ready-to-hang with archival materials, D-rings, and hanging wire. Payment will be made after delivery. Applications must be submitted through CAFÉ by 11:59 p.m. PST on February 29, 2024, and include images of up to 20 artworks, a slide list with artist names, titles, dimensions, and costs, and a conceptual statement of no more than 500 words. Selection will be guided by aesthetic integrity and alignment with the opportunity's goals to support the local arts community and foster a positive, healing environment.
