Valdosta National 2018

The Valdosta National 2018 is an annual national all-media juried competition hosted by the Valdosta State University Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery in Valdosta, Georgia. This is the 30th year of the exhibition.

Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 living in the United States. All artwork must have been completed in the last 5 years (no earlier than 2012), be original (no Giclees or reproductions), and not previously shown in the VSU Fine Arts Gallery. Valdosta State University faculty and staff are ineligible. Entry fee is $35 for up to three artworks. Artists may submit 1-3 images and 0-3 videos (total of 1-3 samples). Only one image may be submitted for each piece; multiple views of 3-D work should be joined into a single image before submission.

Presentation Requirements: All work must be professionally presented. 2-D work should be framed with plexi-glass and hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers or glass). Paintings may be gallery wrapped with 1.5 inch edges without additional framing. Artwork that is complicated or difficult to install must be installed by the artist. There is no size limitation. Images submitted must accurately represent actual artwork. Art will be insured while in the gallery (deductible may apply; art is not insured during transit). Artwork may be for sale with no gallery sales commission. Artists are responsible for shipping costs.

Timeline: Entry deadline is November 6, 2017 at 11:59 PM MST. Notifications will be emailed by December 11, 2017. Accepted work must be received by January 5, 2018 at 3 PM. Exhibition runs January 16-February 2, 2018. Opening reception is January 16, 6 PM-7:30 PM. Shipped work will be returned by February 12, 2018.

Awards: At least $1,500.00. Judge: Linda Hall, a multimedia artist with an MFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
