Valdosta National 2017

The Valdosta National is South Georgia's premier national all-media art competition hosted by the Valdosta State University Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery. The 2017 exhibition will be the 29th year of this annual juried competition showcasing contemporary art from across the nation.

Deadline: November 6, 2016. Entry fee: $35 for up to 3 artworks. Awards: $1,500.00 total. Exhibition dates: January 17-February 3, 2017. Opening reception: January 17, 6PM-7:30PM. Accepted work must be received by January 6, 2017 at 3PM. Artists will be notified by December 9, 2016.

Eligibility: Open to all artists over 18 living in the United States. Artwork must have been completed in the last 4 years (no earlier than 2012), be original (no Giclees or reproductions), and not previously shown in the VSU Fine Arts Gallery. Valdosta State University faculty and staff are ineligible. Submissions must include 1-3 images and/or up to 3 videos. All work must be professionally presented; 2-D work should be framed with plexi-glass and hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers or glass). Paintings may be gallery wrapped with 1.5 inch edges without additional framing. Installation work must be installed by the artist. Insurance is provided while art is in the gallery (not during transit). No gallery sales commission; works need not be for sale. Artists are responsible for shipping costs.
