Valdosta National 2016

The Valdosta National is South Georgia's premier national all-media art competition hosted by the Valdosta State University Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery. 2016 marks the 28th year of this annual juried exhibition showcasing contemporary art nation-wide. The exhibition runs January 19-February 5, 2016, with $1,500.00 in awards.

Open to all artists over 18 living in the United States. Artwork must have been completed in the last 2 years (no earlier than 2013), be original (no Giclees or reproductions), and not previously shown in the VSU Fine Arts Gallery. Valdosta State University faculty and staff are ineligible. Entry fee is $35 for up to 3 different artworks. Submissions must include 1-3 images, and may include up to 3 audio or video files. Deadline: November 2, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notifications will be emailed by December 4, 2015.

All work must be professionally presented. 2-D work should be framed with plexi-glass and hanging wire (no sawtooth hangers or glass). Paintings may be gallery wrapped with 1.5 inch edges without additional framing. There is no size limitation. Artwork that is complicated or difficult to install must be installed by the artist. Images submitted must accurately represent actual artwork. Art will be insured while in the gallery (not during transit) and may be for sale with no gallery sales commission. Artists are responsible for shipping costs. Accepted work must be received by January 8, 3PM. Opening reception is January 19, 6PM-7:30PM. Hand-delivered work may be picked up February 8, 8:30AM-5:30PM. Shipped work will be returned by February 10. Juror: Carrie Ann Baade, an internationally exhibiting artist and Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Florida State University.
