Utah State University Human Resources Building Public Art Commission

The Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management and the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Public Art Program requests qualifications from regional artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific artwork for the Utah State University Human Resources Building. The building will house the Office of Human Resources, providing services including on-boarding, benefit enrollment and administration, compensation administration, employee wellness programs, and personnel records maintenance.

The Art Selection Committee is seeking exterior artwork that establishes a welcoming environment for building visitors. The primary area of interest is the exterior west-facing corner of the building, situated directly above the new Human Resources Training Room. Final artwork must be designed to securely attach to the brick rainscreen system while remaining lightweight, with attachment methods ensuring proper drainage and ventilation are maintained. Mural proposals are not being solicited. Artwork subject matter must be appropriate for public exhibition and cannot contain advertising, religious references, sexual or violent content, or convey political partisanship.

A budget of $40,000 is available for all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, support structures, insurance, shipping, travel, lighting, installation, and documentation. This project is open to artists residing in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico, with Utah-based artists receiving additional weight in initial scoring. Applicants must have a U.S. Tax ID Number. Applications must include up to 10 images and/or up to 2 video files of previous work, a CV or resume, and a Statement of Interest. Complete application packages must be received by April 30, 2025 by 11:59 p.m. MT via CallForEntry.org. Semi-finalists will be selected to present full proposals in July 2025 and will receive an honorarium applied toward the commission amount.
