About This Call
Tooele Technical College seeks a public artwork commission for its expansion project. The Art Selection Committee invites artists to consider the role of technical education, trades, and innovation while interpreting the functionality and purpose of the new addition. Artists may consider the specific training offered at Tooele Technical College and/or the union between educational training and economic development. The committee also recommends considering themes of diversity and inclusion, as well as established themes meaningful to Tooele County such as topography, local resources, innovations, and culture.
Potential sites for artwork integration include the outdoor entry of the new Trades Building (with emphasis on functional art or outdoor seating) and the outdoor landscape path along the new Diesel Expansion. A budget of $164,000 is available for all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, insurance, shipping, travel, installation, documentation, and other costs.
Applications must be submitted online via CallForEntry and include up to 10 images and/or 1 video file of previous work, a CV or resume, and a Letter of Interest. The deadline for receipt of preliminary materials is December 5, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Semi-finalists will be selected to present full proposals on February 7, 2023, and will receive an honorarium to help defray proposal development costs. This project is open to legal resident artists and artist teams residing in the Southwestern United States (Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Nevada). Utah artists are strongly encouraged to apply. For questions, contact Hannah Barrett at [email protected] or 801-245-7271.
