About This Call
The Utah State Developmental Center is seeking public art for a new Admissions and Safe Housing building located at 895 North 900 East in American Fork, Utah. The facility is designed as a durable housing facility serving people with developmental disabilities, featuring three residential pods that will house 30 residents with accommodations for a future fourth pod to accommodate 10 additional residents. The building's interior and exterior finishes have been selected for high durability and ability to withstand abuse, with the design team challenged to create a highly durable institutional environment that feels welcoming, highly functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The campus is situated on 250 beautiful acres at the mouth of American Fork Canyon along the foothills of Utah's Wasatch Mountains. The landscape concept provides an aesthetically pleasing design that complements the surrounding Developmental Center Campus, protecting and maintaining large trees while planting new turf around the building edges. Each dormitory pod has a small outdoor recreation area that includes turf grass.
Artists must submit 1-6 images as work samples. The entry deadline is November 30, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. This is a national call open to artists across the United States. The event dates are September 21, 2015 through February 15, 2016. For questions, contact [email protected].
