About This Call
Call for interested artists or artist teams to create site-specific artwork or propose appropriate existing artwork for the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control facility in Saratoga Springs, Utah.
The Art Selection Committee intends to commission new artwork or purchase existing art. Proposed artwork may draw inspiration from the community of Saratoga Springs, the surrounding area, the services offered by DABC, the architecture, or the Utah landscape. Potential sites include exterior areas to the east and southeast of the main entrance and/or upper interior spaces (approximately 5 feet of space from the top of facility shelving to roof girders). The Committee is open to artist-suggested sites appropriate for the work, architecture, and egress. The facility's architecture consists primarily of glass and concrete block masonry with varying surface textures (honed, smooth, and/or split face). Any proposed existing work must include full costs for presentation, shipping, engineering, assembly, installation, and any necessary structural alterations.
Project budget is up to $22,500 for all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, framing, insurance, shipping, travel, installation, and documentation. This project is open to resident American and legal resident artists/artist teams residing in the Western United States: Utah, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. Art selection committee members and immediate families, board members, and employees of Jacoby Architects or Utah Division of Arts and Museums are not eligible. Deadline for applicant materials is September 13, 2019. The Selection Committee will review proposals and select semi-finalists who will present full proposals on November 18, 2019. Final selections will be made from semi-finalists. Building project completion is expected Fall 2020. Contact Lisa Greenhalgh at [email protected] or 801-245-7270, or Jim Glenn at [email protected] or 801-245-7271.
