About This Call
The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (UDABC) is seeking artists or artist teams living and working in the western United States to create site-specific artwork or propose existing artworks for a new DABC facility in Sandy City, Utah. The committee is particularly interested in mural work but may consider other media. Three interior wall sites are available: the North and South walls (11' x 130' x 11' each) above store displays, and the West wall (11' x 65'). Proposed existing work must include full costs for presentation, shipping, engineering, assembly, installation, and any necessary structural alterations.
The project budget is up to $28,300 to cover all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, framing, insurance, shipping, travel, installation, and documentation. Artwork may draw inspiration from the community of Sandy, the larger Salt Lake Valley and Northern Utah, the services offered by DABC, and/or the facility's architectural design based on the "Golden Mean."
Eligibility is open to resident American and legal resident artists/artist teams residing in the western United States: Utah (strongly encouraged), Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming. Art selection committee members and immediate families, board members and employees of Jacoby Architects or Utah Division of Arts and Museums are not eligible. Submissions must include a letter of interest, up to ten images of past work, and a CV or resume. The selection committee will review applications and select semi-finalists to present full proposals on April 21, 2022. Final selection will be made from the semi-finalists. Building project completion is scheduled for October 2022.
