Urban Sketch 2026

This exhibition invites artists to submit work of any medium or genre. A maximum of six works can be submitted per artist. The submission deadline is 31st March 2026, with hand-in scheduled for 14th-18th April 2026 (10am-4pm) at The Art Department, 9-11 Causeyside Street, Paisley PA1 1UW. The exhibition opens on 1st May 2026 with a launch party from 5-9pm (no tickets required) and runs through 30th May 2026. Hand-back of artworks is scheduled for 1st-6th June 2026 (10am-3:30pm).

Artists will be notified of acceptance by 7th April 2026. The selection panel comprises experienced artists who grade each submission, with acceptance determined by average score. Works of any experience level are considered equally. Artwork will be grouped by genre and displayed with labels showing artist name, title, price, and a QR code linking to the artist's bio.

Artists set their own sale prices. The Art Department takes a 30% commission plus 20% VAT on the commission element only. Sales occur in the gallery only; online sales are not available. Artists who sell work will be paid by 1st July 2026. Artists must provide their own insurance. Artworks not collected during the hand-back period may be held in storage for up to 30 days, after which The Art Department reserves the right to sell or dispose of uncollected works.
