About This Call
The City of Albuquerque seeks to commission a work or works of 3-dimensional art for installation at the southeast corner of Louisiana Boulevard NE and Indian School Road in the Uptown area. The Art Selection Committee is interested in commissioning a sculpture that connects with themes of community in this vibrant, historic neighborhood. The committee seeks sculptural artworks that can serve as a landmark aimed at enhancing the vitality of the area.
The site dimensions are 10' x 6.5' x 4'. Artworks should be made of stone, metal, or other suitable outdoor materials that can be easily maintained. Up to five finalists will be chosen and paid a $1,000 stipend for their proposal and presentation to the Art Selection Committee. The selected artist will receive $65,000 to commission an artwork or multiple artworks for the site. The all-inclusive project budget covers complete fabrication, engineering, transportation, and installation.
Applications must include: a letter of intent (not to exceed 500 words) summarizing professional experience and approach to public art; up to 8 digital images of past work with titles, media, dimensions, and year of completion; and a current resume (not to exceed 3 pages). Do not submit a proposed design. This is a Request for Qualifications based on artistic style and approach. All text documents should be in PDF format and images as jpegs. The deadline is March 20, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Questions may be directed to Robyne Robinson at (505) 932-9952 or [email protected].
