About This Call
Gallerium presents UPs and DOWNs, a dual juried exhibition and publication exploring the captivating world of ups and downs in nature, everyday life, and conceptually. Artists are encouraged to explore literal interpretations of ups and downs as well as metaphorical, conceptual, and abstract expressions of differences in height, level, depth, and size through observation, experiences, and emotions.
Interpretations may include physical scenes from the natural or man-made world such as landscapes (mountains, hills, peaks, valleys, canyons, deserts), cityscapes (architectural monuments and skyscrapers compared to tiny houses), seascapes (ocean waves, waterfalls, marine exploration), and still-life compositions. Artists may also explore contrasting moments and emotions in life, from joyful celebrations to poignant reflections, or create conceptual and abstract works capturing high and low levels through bold brushstrokes, contrasting color palettes, or 3D forms. All interpretations in any 2D and 3D art medium, abstract or representational, are welcomed.
Selected artworks will be exhibited in the UPs and DOWNs international online exhibition from March 11 to May 11, 2024, and published in The Book of Arts: UPs and DOWNs publication. Submission is free of charge; a USD 40 selection fee applies to selected artists only, protected by a money-back guarantee until the exhibition opening. Artists can submit up to 5 artworks with a maximum of 2 accepted per artist. The opportunity is open to all visual artists worldwide creating original artworks in 2D and 3D media including painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital arts, and mixed media. Artworks must be entirely the work of the entrant and not copies or derivatives of other copyrighted work. Artists must have all rights for presenting and publishing artworks internationally. Selected artists receive exhibition promotion, online profile pages, digital certificates, publication in exhibition catalogues, and may be selected for magazine publication.
