Uplifting Art for Elevator Doors

The Cultural Center of Cape Cod, a non-profit arts organization located in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, invites artists worldwide to submit images for consideration in the 1st Annual Competition for Images to Feature on Elevator Doors. Three pieces will be selected, one for each elevator door in the Cultural Center's new Education Wing.

The actual artwork will remain the property of the artist. The images, provided as high resolution digital files, will be reproduced on material to be affixed to the elevator doors for one year. The artists will grant copyright to the Cultural Center for this and promotional use. The three successful applicants will each receive a $250 stipend and acknowledgement with contact information (web site and/or QR code) at the site of the installation. The Cultural Center directors will jury.

Artists may submit up to 20 images total. The fee is $15 for the entry and first image, $5 for each additional image. The artwork pictured must be original to the artist. All mediums are acceptable, but sculptors and other artists whose images will include background material should consider how the background factors into the final image reproduced for display. The elevator doors measure 36" wide x 80" high, which translates into a 1:2.2 ratio (portrait orientation). Images that are more than half as wide as they are high may be cropped to fit the available space. Submissions should be in jpeg format: 873 pixels wide by 1920 high at 72 dpi excluding frame. Successful submissions must later be provided in large, 300 dpi TIFF files. Deadline for submissions: May 6, 2016 at 11:59pm. Winners will be notified by May 13, 2016. Artists must provide digital files for printer by May 16, 2016. Installation is scheduled for June 2016.
