Unveiling The Layers - HMVC Gallery Group Show

HMVC Gallery presents "Unveiling The Layers," an online group show exploring the concept of layers as interpreted through different art forms. Throughout art history, layers embody depth, complexity, and hidden narratives. This exhibition welcomes interpretations of physical layers (different textures or materials), emotional layers (depicting different emotional states or experiences), cultural or historical layers (exploring different traditions, narratives, or customs), or societal layers (examining different ideologies, social constructs, or political systems).

Artworks from all mediums of visual art are welcome, except AI-created art and video/film. Artists may submit up to 20 artworks for juror consideration; one artwork from each selected artist will be included in the final show. High-quality images must be submitted along with an Artist Bio and Artist Statement. Images must be in JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, SVG, or WEBP format, with dimensions between 1200-2560 pixels on the longest side and file size under 2 MB. Digital entries must be received by December 28th, 2023 before 11:59 p.m. EST. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email by December 31st. The show runs January 1-31, 2024.

Entry fee is $25 for the first entry and $10 for additional entries (non-refundable, does not guarantee acceptance). All participating artists will be featured on the website and virtual gallery, receive a certificate of participation, and have their work included in a video screening on a Times Square jumbotron billboard in January. Awards include: Best of Show ($150), Second Place ($100), and Third Place (one-month online solo show). Jurors are Heini Mika and Vincent Chang. By submitting, artists grant HMVC Gallery New York the right to use images on their website, social media, and online promotions, with full credit and copyright remaining with the artist.
