Unreal 2023 - Exhibition and Publication

Gallerium presents Unreal 2023, a dual juried exhibition and publication opportunity for surreal art. Surrealism, which began in early 1920s Paris, uses innovative techniques and irrational visual forms derived from dreams and the unconscious mind to present a world beyond known reality. As a free form of artistic expression, surreal works serve as a gateway to the unknown, where ordinary rules fade to make way for dreams, fantasy, and irrational imagination. The subject is open to any surreal work, including abstract to hyper-realism inspired by the world beyond the ordinary.

Artists working in any 2D and 3D medium from anywhere in the world are invited to participate. Submission is free of charge, with a USD 40 selection fee applying only to selected artists. Artists can submit up to 6 artworks, with a maximum of 2 artworks selected per artist. Artworks must be original works created by the entrant without instructor supervision, and artists must hold all rights for international presentation and publication. Artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred, with no size limits. All styles and art categories are accepted, including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital arts, fiber art, textile art, sculpture, ceramic art, jewelry, and mixed media.

Selected artworks will be showcased in an international online group exhibition from August 10 to October 10, 2023, and published in The Book of Arts: Unreal publication, distributed globally in digital and print formats. Selected artists receive an exhibition catalogue, honorable mention digital certificates (10 artists), digital social media badges, an artist profile page on the Biafarin platform, and a digital certificate.
