Unprecedented: Art Responds to 2020

Unprecedented: Art Responds to 2020 is an exhibition at View, a premier multi-arts facility located in the Central Adirondacks of New York State. The exhibition will showcase artworks created during and stimulated by the global pandemic of 2020-2021, when artists may have had limited materials but maximum time. View welcomes artists to submit individual works or series in progress that would be completed by the time of the exhibition, exploring how expression and imagination are manifested during this novel time. All media besides video, film and sound may be submitted; artists interested in submitting video, audio or film should contact [email protected] for possible opportunities.

All entries must be of original design and personal execution created within 2020 and 2021. Artwork previously shown at View is not eligible. Artists may submit 2-5 works. Entry fees are $35 for non-members or $25 for View members (includes two submissions); additional works cost $10 each. Thanks to generous donor support, View is able to cover the entry fee for up to 15 artists on a need-based basis; interested artists must complete the Entry Fee Waiver Form by March 22, 2021. Through donor donations, View offers over $500 in cash awards. Selection notification will be sent by May 7, 2021. Selected paintings must be received at View no later than June 3, 2021. The exhibition runs from June 12 to August 1, 2021, and will include both an in-person exhibition and an online exhibition with all exhibiting works. View retains a 35% commission on all works sold. All shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist.
