Unmentionables

Unmentionables is an exhibition running October 4-29, 2017 at Loading Dock Gallery in Lowell, MA, with a gallery reception on October 7, 5-7pm. The exhibition explores themes of intimate apparel and personal identity, inviting artists to respond to the question: What do you wear under there? What are you trying to hide? And what does that reveal about you?

Eligibility and Requirements: Open to artists over 18 years of age in the New England region. Entries must be original artworks completed within the last five years. No reproductions. All artworks must be for sale. Limited to four entries per artist. Accepted mediums include 2-D work (paint, mixed-media, encaustic, charcoal, pastel, collage, mosaic, ceramic, photography, hanging fiber, print techniques, digital, shaped canvas) and 3-D work (free-standing, pedestal, or wall-hung). 2-D work cannot exceed 48" x 48" wall footprint including frame, weigh more than 50 lbs, and must be hang-ready with appropriate hardware. 3-D free-standing work cannot exceed 150 lbs; pedestal work cannot exceed 6' in any dimension; wall-mounted work cannot exceed 50 lbs or 48" in longest dimension. Video, projection, and performance will not be considered.

Entry Fees: Non-members: $35 for two entries and $10 each for up to two additional entries. Loading Dock Gallery members: $25 for two entries and $10 each for up to two additional entries. Submit 2-4 images. Award: $500 for Best in Show. Jurors include Staci Layne Wilson, entertainment journalist and filmmaker, and Nancy "Buni" Bacon, former pin-up model and author. Accepted artists will be notified by email on September 17, 2017. Artwork delivery: September 23-30, 2017 (hand delivery only, no shipped work). Pickup: October 29-November 1, 2017. Gallery takes 40% commission on sales for non-members. Artists receive payment within 10 days after close of show.
