University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center

Qualifications are requested from local artists interested in proposing artwork for the interior of the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center. Due to the number of locations planned throughout the facility, there is opportunity for a variety of wall-mounted media at various budget levels. Successful applications will include a portfolio of past work, details of similar projects, pricing information, and an outline of the process for design, fabrication and installation (if applicable).

The following types of artwork will be considered: wall-mounted sculpture (ceramic, wood, metal, glass) that cannot project off wall more than 4"; fine art photography that needs to be able to print at image size 23" x 23" or larger (digital files must be at least 150 dpi); oil or acrylic on canvas with minimum size 30" x 30" (unstretched preferred); and fine art on paper (watercolor, acrylic, pastel, ink, pen, etc.) with minimum image size 23" x 23" unframed, or wall-mounted fiber panels. Subject matter should include representational nature imagery, nature-based abstraction, non-figurative work, and convey positivity. Avoid red and black in concentrated amounts.

Artists must include their current location with proximity to Prince George's County, MD and must reside within 150 miles of Largo, MD. Artists must be able to ship or deliver artwork to Art Expressions in Gurnee, IL. Artists are encouraged to submit their work as a donation to the hospital. Art Expressions may mat and frame artwork and will install artwork (sculptures will be evaluated based on installation method). All art will be reviewed by Art Expressions for project suitability. Please include a brief written description for each piece submitted. Work sample requirements: minimum 3 images, maximum 18 images; minimum 0 videos, maximum 2 videos; total samples minimum 3, maximum 20.
