About This Call
Colorado Creative Industries seeks to acquire public art through direct purchase of existing artwork for the University of Colorado Boulder's Ketchum Arts & Sciences building. The total funding available is $77,280, with individual artworks up to $25,000 considered for purchase. Multiple artworks will be acquired.
The Ketchum building, built in 1938 and designed by architect Charles Z. Klauder, is undergoing a top-to-bottom renovation slated for completion in December 2015. Due to the building's design and limited floor space, only 2D works will be considered. Works may be sculptural in nature as long as they are wall-mounted and do not protrude more than 4 inches. Available wall sizes range from 3'6"h x 15'l to 5'h x 12'6"l.
All applicants must be residents of Colorado. The Art Selection Committee will evaluate submissions based on artistic excellence, technical competence, conceptual compatibility, scale, material, form and content, structural and surface integrity, resistance to wear and vandalism, and ease of maintenance. Current faculty, staff, and alumni of UCB are encouraged to apply. Applicants must submit 1-3 digital images per artwork (up to 3 artworks total, maximum 9 images), a resume, and a statement of interest (250 words or less) through the CaFÉ system. There is no application fee. The selection panel will meet in January/February 2016, with notifications in February/March 2016. Contact Ruth Bruno, Public Art Program Manager, at 303-892-3813 or [email protected] for questions.
