Undeniable: Our Bodies, Ourselves

Undeniable: Our Bodies, Ourselves is an exhibition that engenders dialogue and shares stories through visual arts, emulating the grassroots manner in which Our Bodies, Ourselves was founded. The exhibition explores issues women are examining: who we are, what we stand for, how we can gain true equity and what that equity will look like. What rights do we view as undeniable and how do we secure them? What models for collective action can we share more widely? How can we express our perspectives, provoke conversation and make change through the visual arts?

Up to six artworks per artist may be submitted. Submissions must have relevance to the show's theme and one or more of the five legacy issues. Applicants must live or work in the Tri-State region of PA, NJ, or DE. Entry requires Artists Equity membership: $60 for one year, or $15 for full-time students (proof of status required). MCCC students may enter for free without membership. Artworks may be for sale at the artist's discretion; if for sale, include the cost and artist contact information in the submission PDF. Artists Equity and MCCC take no commission for sold artworks.

Ten winners will be chosen and receive: a certificate, weekly features on AE's Facebook and Instagram pages, inclusion in a virtual show on AE's homepage with up to three works of their choosing, automatic eligibility for future Undeniable exhibition locations without re-entry (at artist's discretion), and a free year of membership to AE following their current membership expiration. Selected artists must drop off original artwork April 29th (1:00-5:00 pm) or May 1st (2:00-4:00 pm) at Montgomery County Community College Fine Art Gallery, 340 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Pick up is June 13-14 (2:00-5:00 pm). Artists unable to drop off or pick up may designate a proxy via email to [email protected]. Open to student, amateur, and professional artists of all genders.
