Uncommon Threads

SCORE (Southern California Open Regional Exhibitions) invites artists and designers to enter the juried Uncommon Threads virtual exhibit. The SFVACC seeks artists who can provide a well-rounded range of both 2D and 3D fiber art, including wearables. All submitted art will be juried using digital images (.JPGs). Video of art may accompany .JPGs upon entering to help the juror understand the artwork better, though videos as a medium will not be considered as artwork and will not be judged.

Uncommon Threads is open to all artists worldwide. Work must have been created within the last three years and must be original and of the artist's own execution. Entries are limited to six original artworks per artist as .JPGs. One entry costs $35, with up to 5 additional entries at $5 each. The entry deadline is November 6, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notifications will be sent by November 14-15, 2022, with the exhibit opening December 1, 2022 and closing December 31, 2022. A virtual artists' reception will be held December 3, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. PST.

Awards include Best of Show ($800), 1st Place ($400), 2nd Place ($300), and up to four Honorable Mentions. The juror is Jeanne Medina Le, an LA-based artist and Assistant Professor in 3D Media and Fiber Program Head at California State University Long Beach. All sales are handled directly between artist and buyer with no commission to SFVACC. The exhibit will remain viewable on the SFVACC website's Archived Exhibits page indefinitely after the closing date.
