About This Call
Uncommon Threads 2021 is an art-to-wear event showcasing fiber and jewelry artists. The event takes place over three days: Friday, October 22 (6 pm - 10 pm) at the Q Center, 1405 North 5th Avenue in St. Charles, IL, featuring a cocktail party and runway show; Saturday, October 23 (10 am – 5 pm) and Sunday, October 24 (10 am - 3 pm) at Fine Line Creative Arts Center for Fashion Weekend.
Fiber artists may showcase 3-5 garments on the runway and sell additional pieces at the event. Artists can participate as runway artists, independent booth artists, or through the Fine Line Managed Booth (up to 30 items). Jewelry artists and fiber artists aged 18 and older who reside in the United States are eligible. Artists may attend in-person or submit work remotely; runway artists and managed booth participants are not required to be present.
Entry fee is $25.00. Artists submit 5-10 images of work completed in the last two years. Runway artist awards include Best of Show ($250), Jurors' Choice Award ($200), and People's Choice Award ($100). Independent booth fees apply separately. All runway items and additional pieces are available for sale both in-person and online. Accepted artists must provide images and descriptions for the online event component.
