Unbreakable: The Veteran Spirit – A Reflection on Unity, Transition, and Support

Spiva Center for the Arts invites veteran artists to submit work for Unbreakable: The Veteran Spirit – A Reflection on Unity, Transition, and Support, a juried exhibition exploring the resilience, camaraderie, and support systems that shape the veteran experience. This exhibition seeks to highlight the shared struggles, triumphs, and relationships that sustain veterans, from the friendships formed in service to the families and communities that provide strength during transition. Selected work will be on display in the Jo Mueller Reserve Gallery at Spiva Center for the Arts from September 4 through September 27, 2025.

The exhibition is open to veteran artists of all military branches living and working in the United States or its territories. All visual art mediums are welcome, including painting, photography, mixed media, and sculpture. Artwork should explore themes of unity, friendship, transition, and family support. Maximum dimensions for 2D artwork are 36" x 36"; sculpture dimensions should not exceed 3 feet in height or width. Accepted work must not be presented behind glass unless hand-delivered; plexiglass is acceptable to protect the art.

Submit high-quality images (at least 300 DPI) in JPEG or PNG format, including artwork title, dimensions, and medium. A brief artist statement (150 words maximum) explaining how your work connects to the theme is required. The entry fee is $10 for a maximum of two works. Submission deadline is July 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. All entrants will be notified of acceptance or declination via email by August 1.
