About This Call
Request for qualifications from artists and/or artist teams interested in creating site-specific artwork for the Welding Program Building at Uintah Basin Technical College in Roosevelt, Utah. Deadline for materials: May 31, 2018.
Work sample requirements: Submit 1-6 images (total of 1-6 samples). Eligibility is regional, limited to Utah artists.
The Welding Center is the first building on the south lot and will serve as a beacon of activity and purpose. A large, south-facing glassy lobby acts as an iconic structure announcing UBTech's presence and investment in the Welding Program. The building's identity is further defined by a large school logo on the south façade and a designated space for a large art mural on the east façade. An interpretive entry patio on the south side will be a collaborative design effort under supervision of the design team and faculty, allowing students to express their talents in a lasting built project. The durable materials include poured-in-place concrete, concrete masonry units, pre-weathered steel panels, large windows, steel framing, and a single-ply roof membrane. Each major space is highlighted with windows or clear skylights that bring natural daylight deep within the spaces and enhance working environments.
