About This Call
This is a public art commission opportunity through Florida's Art in State Buildings Program for a site-specific work to be installed in the curved rotunda walls of the University of Florida's Institute of Black Culture building. The art budget is $14,500 for the commissioned work.
Up to 3 finalists (artist or artist teams) will be selected to receive a $750 honorarium to visit the site and create and present a site-specific proposal. The honorarium is separate from the listed art budget. Finalist notification is targeted for April 2020, with site visits planned for June/July 2020 and site-specific proposals due September/October 2020.
Eligibility requires that artists have met at least two of the following criteria: completed public commissions with similar budgets, works in major public, private, corporate, or museum collections, received awards, grants, or fellowships, or had a one-person exhibition in a museum within the past five years. Applicants must submit a statement of intent (one page or less), a current professional resume or CV, and up to 20 digital images (with the first five used in blind review). Up to 6 video or audio files may be submitted for artwork with sound or motion, with each file counting toward the 20-image limit. International artists are eligible.
