Type Speaks: National Juried Typography Exhibition 2023

Nicholls State University and the Ledet Art Gallery announce the 2023 National Juried Typography Exhibition. Artists are invited to submit entries of original works created within the past two years. This national juried exhibition is open to all US residents 18 years of age or older. Works in any media are eligible.

Awards: 1st $500, 2nd $300, 3rd $200. Entry fee is $25 for up to three entries. Entries must fit through the gallery door (60 x 72 inches) and weigh no more than 30 lbs. Accepted works must be gallery ready with no saw-tooth hangers or breakable glass. Up to 3 entries may be submitted, each including artist name, title, medium, size (H x W x D inches), insurance value, and year completed. Image files must be JPEG or JPG, 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side and under 5MB. Video files can be MOV, MP4, WMV, 3GP, AVI, ASF, MPG, M2T, MKV, M2TS, and should be under 100 MB with resolution between 640 x 480 minimum and 1920 x 1080 maximum.

Juror: Matthijs Herzberg, owner and operator of Herzberg Design Co in New Orleans, Louisiana, specializing in type design, brand identity, and art direction. Exhibition dates: October 16 - November 16, 2023. Reception: October 18, 6-8:00 p.m. Notification of acceptance by email by September 15. Delivery window: September 25 - October 6. Return shipping or pick-up of works: December 1-15. Artists are responsible for all shipping and delivery costs. Nicholls State University will provide insurance coverage for all artworks while on campus; insurance during transit is the artist's responsibility.
