About This Call
Pinyon Jay Press and Idaho State University invite artists to submit broadsides using hand set type for a national juried exhibition in the Transition Gallery in the Pond Student Union in Pocatello, Idaho. This exhibition will be juried by Jessica Spring. The entry fee is $30.00. Artists must submit 3 images of their work. Please leave work unframed.
The Idaho State University Library and Special Collections, Department of Communication Media and Persuasion, and Department of Art have created a purchase award for $150. The winner will be selected by the close of the show. The exhibition runs from September 20 to November 4, 2016.
Pinyon Jay Press is a collaborative venture between the James Rogers Department of Communication, Media, and Persuasion and the Department of English and Philosophy, housed in the VisComm Experimental Lab in the Liberal Arts Building of Idaho State University. It provides faculty and students the opportunity to learn the art of fine letterpress printing and to explore various forms of expression that involve image, text, or a combination of the two. Several times a year Pinyon Jay Press holds special events such as guest lectures and workshops to promote the knowledge of letterpress printing and related fields such as typography, book design, broadside production, and visual culture in general.
