About This Call
Turning Points invites artists to share their visions of what a turning point can be—whether big or small, obvious or subtle, dreadful or sublime. Turning points can be dramatic moments or subtle insights that nudge us in new directions, from personal pivots in thinking and perspective to major life events like falling in love, changing careers, parenthood, illness, or loss. They can also encompass larger societal shifts, political changes, economic crises, wars, and environmental disasters, or something as simple as a tap on the shoulder, a change in weather, or discovery of a new path.
All photographic capture and printing processes are eligible, including antique and alternative/experimental processes, photograms, traditional/analog darkroom, digital, scanography, photo-collage, photographic mixed media, and photo-based etching, intaglio or screen printing. AI-generated images will not be considered. Entries must be original works not previously shown at Cabrillo Gallery. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks. Entry fee is $35 per artist.
Turning Points will be presented at Cabrillo Gallery in partnership with PhotoCarmel 2026, a collaboration of galleries, museums, photography groups and venues across the Central Coast of California. The exhibition will be held March 9 to April 10, 2026. Three Juror's Awards will be given: $400, $300, and $200. The juror is Ann Jastrab, Executive Director of the Center for Photographic Art in Carmel. Selected artists will be notified by February 5, 2026. Shipped artworks must arrive by February 25; in-person delivery is accepted on March 2. This is a physical exhibition; artists are responsible for delivery and return shipping costs. Open to US residents.
