Tubac Center of the Arts Shock of the New West

The Tubac Center of the Arts presents The Shock of the New West, seeking art that combines current elements in contemporary art with western themes. Artists are encouraged to imagine traditional western themes in creative ways and to enter work which is innovative in concept and approach, whether representational or abstract. Work must have been completed within the last 48 months and cannot have been previously displayed at TCA. All work must be the original creation of the artist. Giclee reproductions are not permitted.

Entry fee is $30 for the first image and $5 for each additional image (up to 4 works may be entered). TCA Members receive a $5 discount with code Howdy18. All artwork must arrive in condition ready to professionally display or hang. If framed, work must be suitably matted in white, black or neutral colors, simply framed and firmly wired with no sawtooth hangers. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from TCA and must provide a prepaid barcoded shipping label for return of artwork. All work must be for sale; TCA retains a 40% commission.

Deadline: Friday, February 16, 2018. Jury Date: Saturday, February 17, 2018. Artist Notification: Saturday, February 17, 2018. Shipped and hand-delivered art due: Monday, February 26, 2018. Exhibition Opening: Friday, March 2, 2018 (5:00 PM to 7:00 PM). Exhibition Dates: March 2 to April 8, 2018. Pick up of unsold art and return shipping: Monday, April 9, 2018. Awards: Best of Show $400, Award of Excellence $250, Award of Merit $100, Honorable Mention $75. The exhibition will be juried by Michael Fenlason, curator and exhibitions manager at the Tubac Center of the Arts.
