About This Call
The Trinity Art Festival invites artists to create visual art providing a unique perspective on the Christian view and experience in contemporary life. The mission is to encourage personal expression and promote dialog through art.
The 2023 theme is based on 2 Corinthians 4:8: "afflicted in every way but not crushed." Artists are encouraged to respond to contemporary challenges—including tension on the world stage, economic disruption, environmental change, and political polarization—with faith and hope. The exhibition is open to art that explicitly references faith and art in conversation with the spirituality suggested by the theme. Trinity Cathedral is a progressive Episcopal Community in Sacramento.
Accepted work will be exhibited at Trinity Cathedral Gallery, Sacramento, CA from October 14 – November 5, 2023, with an opening reception on Saturday, October 14, 2023, 5–8 pm. Total cash awards are $5,000: First place $3,000, Second place $1,500, and Honorable Mention $500. The juror is Sandra Jean Ceas, Artist and Founder of Christos Collective, an internationally exhibiting artist whose work addresses global social issues around justice for all humanity.
Eligibility: Open to all U.S. artists. Original artwork produced in the last two years related to the theme. Work cannot have been previously exhibited in Sacramento within the last two years. All work must be for sale and priced at $5,000 or less. Accepted media: 2D and 3D artwork. Size restrictions: 2D work no larger than 40" x 40"; 3D work no taller than 7'. Entry fees: $45 for up to 3 entries, $5 each additional entry, limit of 6 entries per artist. Work sample requirements: Submit 3–6 images. Notifications: September 9, 2023. Artists receive 60% on the sale of their work. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs.
