About This Call
Trinidad State College is requesting qualifications from artists interested in creating a public artwork for the Freudenthal Library renovation at the Trinidad Campus in Trinidad, Colorado. The budget for this opportunity is $38,500, with all costs associated with the public artwork covered, including artist design fee, structural engineering, insurance, materials, fabrication, transportation, installation, and project documentation.
The Art Selection Committee is looking for artwork that addresses one of three potential locations in the library: a large brick wall across from the fireplace in the central gallery lounge space; the ceiling directly next to either side of the fireplace in the gallery lounge; or the ceiling at the entrance of the building. The committee is not interested in three-dimensional sculptural artworks on the floor of any spaces. Wall-mounted and ceiling-hung opportunities are available. The selection committee will consider artistic excellence, scale, material, form and content, safety of materials, appropriate relationship to the function of the site, resistance to general wear and vandalism, and ease of maintenance.
Submissions must include no less than six and no more than eight digital images of previously completed work, a resume, and a brief statement of interest. Submissions are accepted only through the CaFÉ online platform. A short list of semifinalists will be invited to prepare and present a final proposal in person and will be paid an honorarium of $1,000. The deadline for submission is October 10, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. For more information, contact Ruth Wilson, Public Art Program Manager, at 303-880-6671 or [email protected].
