About This Call
Tribute is a national exhibition featuring paintings from artists across the United States, open to 2D fine art and fine craft in all paint mediums. Artworks should pay homage to a person, place, or thing of great importance to the artist. The exhibition at d'Art Center in Norfolk, Virginia is held in honor of Barbara Fulp, a resident artist at d'Art Center who passed in 2019. The exhibition will be co-curated by gallery manager Amanda Bradley and juror Ken Wright, a Richmond-based abstract painter and former arts commissioner for the State of Virginia.
Eligibility is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without the aid of an instructor or kit, and produced within the last five years. All styles and aesthetics are considered, though content should be appropriate for all viewers. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks for a $35.00 entry fee. Works cannot exceed 40 pounds or 48 inches in their longest dimension. All 2D works must be equipped with hanging hardware for installation.
The exhibition runs Friday, May 8th through Saturday, May 30th, 2020, with a reception on Thursday, May 14th from 5:30-7:30pm. Accepted artists will be notified by email by 5pm on Monday, April 20th, 2020. Accepted works must arrive by May 1st, 2020. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). Sales commission is 60% artist/40% d'Art Center. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and must provide pre-paid return labels through UPS or FedEx. The d'Art Center is not responsible for damage during exhibition and artists are strongly encouraged to insure their work.
