About This Call

This art exhibit is for The Giving Keys, a jewelry brand in Downtown Los Angeles that employs people who have been affected by homelessness. On June 3rd, 2016, The Giving Keys will host a Pop Up Exhibition entitled Trial and Triumph: Resilience in the Face of Adversity. Centered around depictions of everyday people struggling and thriving as they meet the manifold challenges of everyday life (with an emphasis on poverty and homelessness), proceeds from this event will go into a Hope Fund for members of The Giving Keys' staff who need assistance reaching individual financial independence goals.

Works should reflect the theme of 'trial and triumph,' though they do not necessarily have to directly target the subject of poverty and homelessness, though that would be preferred. The exhibition accepts drawings, paintings, mixed media, and photography. Video, audio, and sculpture will not be accepted. This is an exclusive, one-night-only event on Friday evening, June 3rd, 2016.

All pieces will be juried, with results revealed no later than May 31st. Artwork must be gallery ready, meaning it is ready to hang with either a saw tooth hanger or wire mounted on the back. Stretched canvas may be hung by the stretcher bar edge. If your work is unframed raw canvas or paper, permission must be obtained to mount it to the wall with pins or tacks. All artwork must be hand delivered to The Giving Keys headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles on June 1st or June 2nd. Mail delivery will not be accepted. All work must be picked up on Monday, June 6th, or pickup must be arranged within the week. Gallery commission on any sales will be 25%, with all proceeds going to the Hope Fund. Artworks do not have to be for sale, but it is encouraged. Entry fee is $2.00. Submit 1-5 images by May 30th, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
