About This Call
The Town of Addison, in partnership with AMLI Residential, is commissioning two sculptures from different artists to be located within a 0.7 acre greenbelt corridor adjacent to the AMLI Residential Treehouse Phase II Development. The public trail system will parallel Midway Road between Beltway Drive and Proton Drive and will connect into the Redding Trail and Beltway Trail project. The total project budget is $150,000, with one larger art installation budgeted at approximately $100,000 and a medium art installation at approximately $50,000.
This is a multi-stage call open to professional and emerging artists over the age of 18. Artists based in Texas are encouraged to apply. Artists are encouraged to take inspiration from the natural environment within the greenbelt, including the preservation of large canopy trees, pollinator patches, and perennials; or from the site's history, which includes the former Addison Treehouse business incubator, Dovie's restaurant, and a working family ranch. Artworks must be of professional quality fitting Addison's Public Art Collection and demonstrate strong design aesthetics and spatial sensibilities.
Stage One requires submission of an artist statement and biography (500-word limit), resume or CV (2-page limit per team member), portfolio with 4-8 past projects, and a letter of interest (2-page limit). Applicants may submit up to 2 applications. Work samples should include 4-8 images. Shortlisted artists will be invited to Stage Two to develop preliminary concept proposals and will receive $1,500 USD to help offset preparation costs. One concept proposal will be selected for final design and commissioning in Stage Three. Employees of the Town of Addison and AMLI Residential, and volunteers of the Addison Arbor Foundation are ineligible.
