Trash Enclosure Wrap at the Salida SteamPlant

The City of Salida Public Art Commission is seeking original designs from area artists to beautify trash and utility boxes placed throughout the city. Selected designs will be printed on vinyl and applied to the boxes. Artists are encouraged to explore original concepts and use bright, vibrant colors that add to the vibrancy of the cityscape and create a sense of community and connection. Avoid common iconography already heavily used within Salida.

Submitted designs must be original works in compliance with copyright laws. Artwork may not contain advertising, religious content, sexual or violent imagery, or other content unsuitable for all ages, and cannot convey political partisanship. Each artist or team may submit up to three works. All submissions will be reviewed by the Salida Public Art Commission for compliance with requirements, creativity, and overall quality. Two designs will be selected for installation on trash enclosures (24" width, 46" height, 24" length) at the Salida SteamPlant Event Center, 220 W Sackett Ave, Salida, CO 81201. Designs must engage all four sides of the enclosure; the top does not require a design.

Eligibility: Must be a Colorado resident and local to Salida (within an 18-mile radius from City center and/or within Salida School District boundaries). Community or student groups may apply. Applicants cannot be members of the Salida Public Art Commission or employees of the City of Salida. Work must be finalized artwork (not conceptual) and able to be translated into a digital file in PDF vector format at 300 dpi. $500 will be awarded to each selected artist or group.
