About This Call
The Biennial of Textiles by the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild is the longest continuous juried show in the Southeast. This year's exhibit focuses on Transformation. In the period leading up to this theme, we have experienced a global pandemic, isolation, and unexpected changes to how we work, live, and socialize. This drastic shift has brought out resilience, leading artists to find new approaches to creating works of art, including how they source materials, produce fiber arts, and innovate using techniques and skills. What Transformation have you experienced and how is it manifested in your artwork?
Fiber artists may submit up to two works for consideration with one entry fee. All works must have been completed since November 2020, be 100% original and executed by the entrant, and not exceed 60" in any direction or 80 pounds. Each entry must include a title, narrative, techniques and materials used, dimensions, weight, insurance value, and sales price or NFS designation. Items must be ready for hanging or display with installation directions provided if necessary.
The exhibition runs May 6 - July 15, 2023 at The Hudgens Center for Art & Learning, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, Building 300, Duluth, Georgia 30097. The opening reception is May 6, 2023, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., with a gallery talk at 3:00 p.m. Entry fees are $45 for non-members and $25 for CHG members and students. Juror is Tommye McClure Scanlin, Professor Emerita at University of North Georgia. Prizes include First Place $750, Second Place $500, Third Place $300, Student $200, and People's Choice $150. A 30% commission applies to sold pieces. Please note that pieces will be displayed and exposed to daylight from unfiltered windows along the glass Rowe Promenade.
