About This Call

The City of Sunrise seeks applications for artworks and designs that can be reproduced as vinyl wraps and applied to up to seventeen (17) traffic control boxes in the City of Sunrise's Business and Entertainment District. Selected student, emerging, and professional artists will be paid $500 per design for an approved final design and licensing rights that will enable the City to reproduce the design on one or multiple traffic control boxes. This opportunity is open to visual artists, illustrators, designers, and creative individuals working in any medium, as long as the final artwork can be translated and digitally reproduced on a three-dimensional vinyl wrap.

Designs must represent the brand of western Sunrise as a business and entertainment destination and the best place to live, work and play. The Business and Entertainment District is a four square mile area on the west side of the City from Flamingo Road to the Sawgrass Expressway, home to Sawgrass Mills, the BB&T Center (home to the Florida Panthers), and the Sawgrass International Corporate Park. Designs must be family-friendly, suitable for the public realm, and integrate the front, back, sides, and top of the box. Artwork must be unique to the City of Sunrise and not previously utilized in other traffic control box or utility box projects. Designs cannot include political or religious content, trademarks, images of illegal activity, advertisements, logos, or promotion of any business, organization, individual, or product.

Artists must submit designs as JPEG files with dimensions of 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, with 300 DPI resolution and sRGB color profile. Up to seventeen (17) images may be submitted. Applicants must live in the U.S.A. and cannot be City of Sunrise employees or elected officials. Artists younger than 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian co-sign the Artist Letter of Intent. Selected artists will work with City staff and the City's selected printing company to make necessary revisions prior to printing. Artists will be compensated after the final artwork is submitted to the City's satisfaction. Artists will retain copyright and intellectual property rights while granting the City unlimited, perpetual, and irrevocable rights to use or reproduce the artwork in any non-commercial manner.
