About This Call
The City of Coral Springs will wrap five (5) traffic signal boxes located throughout the city with digital versions of artworks. The goal is to reduce blight along corridors by transforming utility boxes into art pieces. This beautification effort will enhance the experience of visitors and help prevent vandalism.
Artwork must be a minimum resolution of 360 DPI. There is no overall theme; however, artwork should be colorful but not bright, bold and readable from cars while containing some intimacy for pedestrians. No logos or words are permitted in designs. Designs should represent the City's mission statement of "a premier place to live work and raise a family." Artists must submit up to ten (10) images. Box sizes and locations: Sample Rd. & Coral Ridge Dr. (68" H x 30" W x 27" D); Sample Rd. & Coral Springs Dr. (62" H x 44.5" W x 28 5/8" D); Sample Rd. & Coral Hills Dr. (62" H x 44.5" W x 28 5/8" D); Atlantic Blvd. & Coral Springs Dr. (59" H x 44" W x 28 5/8" D); Atlantic Blvd. & Coral Ridge Dr. (68" H x 40" W x 27" D).
As many as one (1) to five (5) artists can be selected. Experience in vinyl wraps or public art is not necessary. Artists must be located in the tri-county area and can work in any digital visual arts medium including 2-D, painting, drawing, photography, graphic design, and animation. Designs must be unique and of the artist's own creation. Selected artists will be required to place designs onto templates provided by the Vendor/City and work with them for final approval of placement. Artists will be required to sign a copyright agreement. The City will contract with a vinyl wrapping company to install the artwork. Payment is $200 for each design per traffic box.
