TPS 29: The International Competition

TPS 29: The International Competition is a juried photography exhibition organized by Texas Photographic Society and juried by Elizabeth Avedon, independent curator and consultant. This open-themed call welcomes submissions from photographers of all levels internationally, age 18 and older. All photographic-based work is encouraged, including digital, silver, and alternative processes. Works previously exhibited in a TPS show are not eligible. Current TPS Board members may enter but are not eligible for awards.

Submissions must include 5-12 digital JPG images (minimum 1200 pixels on longest side, maximum 5 MB). Entry fees are $30 for current TPS members or $38 for non-members, plus $6 per image over the minimum of 5. The juror will select 50 images for exhibition. Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), and up to 5 Honorable Mentions. The exhibition opens October 3, 2020 at The Silos at Sawyer Yards in Houston, then travels to The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene, Texas, opening January 21, 2021.

Accepted works must be mounted behind Plexiglass and framed uniformly with white mats and black metal frames, finished size 16" x 20" (maximum print size 12" x 16"). Framed prints must arrive in Houston between September 21-25, 2020 with prepaid return shipping labels. TPS will collect a 30% commission from all prints sold during exhibition. Artists should consider insuring their work, as TPS and venues are not liable for loss, theft, damage, or shipping damage.
