About This Call
The Town of Windsor's SoL of Windsor sculpture walk showcases five sculptures on the west end of Windsor Lake, along the Dr. Tom Jones Trail. The Dr. Tom Jones Trail sees over 150,000 visitors a year. The sculptures will be installed the third week of August and unveiled with dedicated public art tours during the Windsor Harvest Festival on August 31st, 2025, which draws over 10,000 visitors to the Town each year.
Each selected artist will receive a $2,000 stipend for large works (fitting on 4'X5' plinths) or $1,200 for small works (fitting 2'X2' plinths). At the conclusion of the season, one sculpture will be awarded the People's Choice award of $750 based on community votes. Artists are required to be living or working in Colorado or a neighboring state (Arizona, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Utah, or Wyoming). Artists may submit a maximum of five sculptures for consideration, with each sculpture submitted as a separate application.
Sculptures must be garden size or larger with a minimum of 3 feet in one dimension and designed for long-term outdoor durability. Acceptable materials include metal, stone, or similarly durable material; wood will not be accepted. Artwork must weigh no more than 5,000 lbs and be able to be welded or bolted to a metal display base. Sculptures 7' to 12' in height can have a 5' maximum width. Sculptures taller than 12 feet may require stamped engineer drawings for permit prior to installation. Applications must include digital images (up to five per sculpture in .jpg format), artwork details including title, media, dimensions, and date, and optionally a drawing, photo, or description of the base and how it will attach to the pedestals. Deinstallation of sculptures is scheduled for August 2026.
