About This Call
The Town of Windsor Arts Commission is seeking an artist to design, fabricate, and install a three-dimensional artwork at the newly renovated Community Development building. The artwork should reflect the work of the staff housed in the building, which may include the region's water heritage and water resources, engineering developments, the Cache la Poudre River, complex irrigation systems, or unique infrastructure. Designs that are educational and interactive are given higher preference. Designs involving running water will not be considered.
The Community Development building is located in a prominent location in Windsor across the street from Windsor High School and shares an entrance with the Windsor Community Recreation Center, which attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. The WAC seeks an artist who will create a piece that is engaging, interactive or kinetic, reflects the Town of Windsor's community development efforts in a creative way, is appropriate in scale to the site, and has an educational component.
Initial applications should include an artist statement or letter of intent addressing interest in the project and any ties to the Town of Windsor or Northern Colorado, a current resume or CV with links to portfolio or artist website, and 3-10 images of relevant works demonstrating the artist's style, medium, scale, and appropriateness for the project. A narrative statement outlining the proposed project type for the site is also required. Three to five finalists will be selected to submit a full proposal including scale models, drawings, renderings, itemized budget, maintenance plan, and timeline. Finalists will receive a $200 stipend. Any artist living and working in the continental United States is welcome to apply, with preference given to Colorado artists and those with demonstrated success completing public art works of similar scale and experience working with municipalities. Artists must demonstrate the ability to complete the project in the required timeframe and have knowledge of their materials and maintenance requirements.
